Monson Arts will be hosting a free open reception for the it’s High School Program’s gallery show (TITLE to be determined) on Friday, May 3rd from 5-7pm. This show is a culmination of the 15-session, academic school year program at Monson Arts in partnership with seven local high schools.
Central High has sent 5 of our own students to this program this year: Mackenzie Perkins and Maggie Anderson in Visual Arts, and Ellie Davis, Emmie Shaw, and Lindy Clukey in Creative Writing. Each section is led by creative professionals; the painter Alan Bray for the visual artists and the poet Dawn Potter for the writers. Working in a studio setting at Monson Arts, these students are taught not only various skills and techniques related to their field, but also how to creative problem solve through instructor-led discussions and peer nurtured conversations. The resulting end of the year show at the Monson Arts Gallery is designed to showcase months of work of a finished piece to give students a sense of the process of starting and completing a work of art or a written story or poem.
This free event will include food and drink with instructors, some students, and Monson Arts staff present to answer any questions and engage attendees. We hope you can come out to celebrate the acccomplishments of these amazingly talented students from CHS!
