After School Program
RSU 64 is proud to partner with the Bangor Region YMCA to offer a safe, fun, and nurturing after-school childcare experience for students in Grades K–5 at Central Community Elementary School (CCES). There is a cost to this program. The YMCA will accept all state awards including, FedCap, Tanf, CCAP, Aspire, etc. In addition, there is financial assistance through the Y’s Open-Door Program.
The YMCA After School Program begins right after school at 2:30 PM and runs until 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Each day is led by a dedicated Lead Teacher, and Assistant Teacher, currently supporting up to 26 students. As the program grows, we’ll welcome additional staff to accommodate more children—up to our licensed capacity of 49 students, as approved by DHHS Maine State Childcare Licensing.
In addition to regular school days, families can register their child for care on in-service days, snow days, and during vacation weeks. On these non-school days, programming will take place at the Bangor YMCA. Families are also welcome to register their child for after-school care directly at the Bangor location at any time.
At CCES, the program primarily uses the cafeteria, with access to the playgrounds, project room, library, and gym. Each afternoon begins with a healthy snack and a cooperative game, followed by homework time and engaging team-based activities such as arts and crafts, leadership development, and outdoor play.
For more information or to confirm availability, please contact our Registration Manager, Maria Robshaw, at (207) 941-2808 ext. 330 or mrobshaw@bangory.org.
We look forward to welcoming your child into a space where honesty, caring, kindness, respect and responsibility thrive!
