What's Happening Wednesdays: There has been a lot happening this week at CCES. Yesterday marked our 50th day of school and our staff celebrated by dressing in 50s themed attire. Many classrooms are participating in crafts and activities that help them reflect on what they are thankful for and hosting some exciting events with family or friends. The end of the first quarter has come to an end and we have dove into second quarter with both feet as children continue to engage in daily learning opportunities. We love teaching your kids each and every day!

Motivational Mondays: Today is World Kindness Day. I am so grateful for those who have shown kindness to me but more importantly that I get to give it freely each and every day. Kindness, compassion, and love are free gifts that we can give to others at anytime and anywhere. This week I encourage you to show kindness to someone at work, at home, or in your community. Show compassion to someone who may need a little extra pick me up, a hug, or even just a smile. Love those around you in your actions and in your words. As you do these things watch and see the positive impact it makes for you and for others.

What Happened Wednesday: We had the great honor and priveldge of celebrating our veterans during yesterdays Veterans' Day ceremony. We also had the opporunity to honor one of our very own staff members for his sacrifice and committment to serving our nation and school, Mr. Clark. Please join us for a soft opening of our Book Fair on Thursday, November 9th from 2:30-7:00 at our CCES library! Our PTO will be meeting at 7:00, so feel free to stay to attend our meeting as well!

Motivational Mondays: Gratitude... the dictionary defines it as "a distinguishing characteristic of being thankful." Do you want to be known as someone who lives with thankfulness and gratitude? As we enter into the second week of November many are reminded it's a month of thankfulness. Today I encourage you to extend it from a month of thankfulness and gratitude to a lifestyle of it. What are you thankful for today? Each day this week find something you are grateful for, big or small, say it out loud, and before you know it you will be overwhelmed by the number of things you become grateful for.

Funny Fridays: What kind of fruit do scarecrows love the most? A: Straw-berries!

Don't forget to dress like your teacher today. You might see some "big kids" in your classroom today because it's Freaky Friday!

What's Happening Wednesdays: Our student council has been collecting socks for the homeless during our Socktober event. Our students raised 514 pairs of socks! Wow, go Bear Cubs! Thank you supporting our local communities and being great examples of citizens who make a difference!

Mrs. Clukey nominated Mrs. Allard for the CUBS award this month. She said, "This teacher has taught in the district for seventeen years. She has taught in both upper and lower elementary grades. She has a passion for teaching and genuinely cares about her students. She is patient, understanding, and provides a comfortable and safe environment in her classroom. Her hard work doesn't go unnoticed. I have heard her former students, their parents as well as my own daughter talk fondly of her and the impact she has made as a teacher. She is there to help and support each student to become the very best they can be." Mrs. Blodgett nominated Mrs. Fall for the CUBS award. She states, "The person I am recommending for the cubs award has been in our district for only a few years. She has worked with many of our students, not only at CCES by district wide. She has helped many students during some of their more difficult times and has been a positive advocate for them and their families. She is successful with students in helping them to develop coping skills for unfortunate situation and has provided helpful information to staff who also work with these students."

Don't forget to wear your PJs today for "We're Tired Wednesday." No sleeping once you get here though :D

Motivational Mondays: It is that time of year when many houses fill up with an overwhelming amount of "fun size" candy bars. What other "fun" stuff is happening around you? If you are thinking nothing, then here's your chance to be the fun maker. Find something this week that will help time stand still for you. Something where you can enjoy the moment, make a memory, and bring a smile to your face. What will that be for you? What might that be for your kiddo(s)? What might that be for your family? Enjoy your week and know that there can be a little fun in every fun size candy... if you let it!

We understand that they may be many families within our communities who need time to be with one another. Therefore, we have decided to postponed tonight's Family Fall Dance, hosted by our CCES PTO. We are hoping to enjoy the dance next Friday, November 3rd, but will continue to monitor the needs of our communities over the upcoming days. We will continue to keep you posted on a new date.
