Our Student Council is putting on our first theme week of the year next week! We look forward to seeing everyone dress up all week!

Whats Happening Wednesdays: Our students from Kindergarten to 5th Grade have been learning the skills of bike riding and the rules around bike safety during our PE classes with Mr. Clark. Students have been learning how to keep their feet on the pedals, maintaining their balance, watching ahead and observing their surroundings while riding, consistently placing their hands on the handle bars, as well as, wearing head gear to stay safe. We are seeing lots of smiles and enthusiastic riders each and every day.

Motivational Mondays: Your to-do list for the week may be lengthy, and you may feel like you're not going to get much done as more gets added, but remember... ONE thing at a time. At the end of the day, I challenge you to write down what you did accomplish. You may be surprised at how productive your week has been when you take your focus off a growing to do list to seeing all the things you were able to accomplish. You got this!

Funny Fridays: Why do hummingbirds hum?
A: They don't know the words!

Whats Happening Wednesday: This week marks our second parent teacher conference night for our fall sessions. We always love the opportunity to connect with families and invite them into the school to see all that is happening here at CCES.Thank you families, staff, and students for all you do each day to make CCES an awesome place to be!

We have two new CUBS award winners! Mrs.Sanborn awarded Mrs. Clukey the CUBS award for never seeking recognition or boasting about her accomplishments. She quietly does her job and then some! She is always striving to make sure she meets her students' needs, helping them feel confident and welcomed. She also said that she is incredibly talented with creating bulletin boards. She lights up her wing with how beautiful they are! Mrs. Wesley awarded Mrs. Blodgett the CUBS award for her dedication to our school, students, and district (over 20 years)! She is She has been working in our school district for more than 20 years. She is dedicated to all students and helpful for any staff member that need assistance. Her students are always excited to go with her, even if that means they miss an activity in the classroom. But, she is always respectful of the classroom time, understanding that students may want to remain to participate. She spends many evenings working on her reports at home. She works hard to find engaging activities for her students. She is a kind colleague that cares about the people she works with. Seeing her in the hallways, walking with her students, she is always engaged in conversations building relationships.

Motivational Mondays: What helps keep you motivated? Every person needs something they can label as self-care. What makes you feel cared for? Maybe its a good book, a cup of coffee, a hug from a friend, dinner around the table, jumping in the leaves, a walk in the beautiful foilage... whatever it is take time to do it this week. Find something that brings a smile to your face, maybe an extra skip in your step, a sigh of relief, or a moment of relaxation. In the hustle and bustle of the everyday routines don't forget to enjoy that moment when you find it and remember you've got what it takes to keep going!

Funny Fridays: What did one plate say to the other?
A: Dinner is on me!

Motivational Mondays: Our history doesn't have to define who we are but it can be used to educate us on who we can become. This week instead of being weighed down by what you can't control, let it drive you toward who you want to be.

Funny Fridays: What did the mama cow say to the calf?
A: It's PASTURE bedtime!

With fall sports wrapping up many are already starting to think about some other options of staying healthy and moving for our winter seasons. Please check out this amazing opportunity from the University of Maine for our students in grades K-3. Please see attached information about the Learn to Skate and Try Hockey for Free events. Flyers will also be coming home next week sometime.

This year our parent teacher conferences will be held on October 12th and October 18th. We are really excited to share that we will be using an online scheduler this year for conference sign ups! This will be especially nice for families with multiple children in the school because you'll sign up in one place! We are sharing the link here and teachers plan to share with you as well!

Check out this awesome opportunity to see some amazing artwork from local artists around our greater community. Our very own Mrs. Bryer is not only featured on the flyer (right hand art) but will be showcasing 5 different pieces of her artwork at the gallery. Our students work hard with Mrs. Bryer to experience creativity in so many ways. The art room is always full of life, creating, masterpieces in the making, and many smiles. Visiting the art show throughout the months of October and November allows our students to put their curator hats on and deepen their understanding of art. Be sure to check it out.

Welcome October and welcome Fall. This is probably my favorite time of year. The leaves have begun changing their color in full swing now. The process of change in the fall reminds us that change is a good thing. It can allow us to let things go and allow new life to come in. As you go into a new week, know this, there will be things you have to just let go of. If you hold on to it, it may hinder you from the chance to change and experience something greater. What are you going to let go of this week?

Funny Fridays: Why can't you send a duck to space?
A: Because the bill would be astronomical!

Our Hootie award was revamped this year and now will be called the CUBS award! The CUBS award stands for Celebrating and Uplifting our Beloved Staff. Staff members nominate their fellow colleagues and recognize them for the outstanding work they do to make CCES a better place everyday!
Mrs. Fogler awarded Mrs. Wesley the CUB award. She states," The person I nominate represents our theme of building strong relationships with your students. She gets to know each of her students in order to create meaningful learning experiences to make it fun and create lasting memories. You can go to her at any time with questions about former students and she will remember in detail academic and social needs. She is also very generous if you ever mention needing a resource and will share anything she has that may support any student."
Mrs. Trafton award Mrs. Sanborn with the CUB award. She states, "Kendra is one of those teachers you come across once in a great while. She is revered by students, families, and colleagues. She is a dynamic member of our school system. Kendra is the true measure of what an educator should be. She has developed an excellent rapport with her students. She has connected and collaborated with her peers and administrators to enhance the school environment. Her ability to communicate with each student and talent for making early reading interventions attainable is truly superior, reflected in her students’ progress. Kendra has a calling in her life, and that calling is teaching. She teaches her students to strive for excellence, to love reading, and to respect each other, and she teaches all of us (her peers) to give our best for our students."
