Mission Statement

Central High School inspires excellence and prepares all students for college, career, and community.

Our Beliefs

We believe:

  • Central High School shall be a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment;

  • All students can learn to their potential; all students should further develop and expand their learning capacity

  • Education is the shared responsibility of teachers, staff, students and the entire school community;

  • All relationships within the school community are based on mutual respect, trust, honesty, and personal responsibility;

  • Educational opportunities are designed to recognize student abilities, passions, interests, and learning styles and to reflect desired learning outcomes;

  • All school community members understand, respect, value, and have an active role in the learning process;

  • Technology is an integral part of the learning environment both in and out of the classroom ;

  • Students will be supported in developing the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes to be successful, productive, and contributing citizens.

Academic Expectations

Central High School students:

  • Will read to gain knowledge, perspective, and insight

  • Will write with the purposes of conveying knowledge, and  expressing thoughts, ideas, and emotions

  • Will speak & listen with empathy, consideration, and confidence

  • Will use technology to enhance their interaction with the modern world

  • Will recognize and solve problems effectively and rationally

  • Will demonstrate research skills that enable informed decision-making and reasonable conclusions

  • Will gain and apply new knowledge, skills and ideas across disciplines and to real world situations

Civic & Social Expectations

Central High School students:

  • Will understand the rights and responsibilities of citizens in democratic and global societies

  • Will demonstrate character, cultural understanding, and ethical behavior while accepting responsibility and consequences for actions

  • Will exhibit good citizenship in the school, community, world, and online

  • Will demonstrate innovation, organization, flexibility, and adaptability in thinking patterns, work habits, and working/learning conditions

  • Will work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and accomplish goals

  • Will exhibit an openness to learn new things and acquire and apply new knowledge
