We had an opportunity to practice both our evacuation and lockdown drills today. Students and staff did a great job with the evacuation drill. Our lockdown drill revealed areas for improvement though. Several of our sixth graders were in the bathroom when the drill was called and they were unsure about what they should do. This created a perfect learning opportunity. The teachers talked with students afterward and identified situations when students might need to seek safety in an area other than the classroom. We will continue to practice our situational awareness and emergency response protocols.

-Academic assistance is available today. You must owe two or more assignments and be signed up by your lunch time. Please remember grades close Friday and you can not be failing more than one class to be eligible for Spring sports.
-Track will meet today after school from 2:45-4:15.
-Softball try outs: Thursday: 4:30-6 pm 6th grade only / 6 - 7:30 7th & 8th grade. Friday - practice times TBA.
-Baseball tryouts 2:45-4:15 Thursday and Friday. Teams will be posted on Friday.
-Reminder - Students participating in any school sponsored after-school activity must be at school by 8:00 a.m. in order to participate in that activity for that day. If a student arrives after this time and presents with an appointment card from a doctor or dentist, this is excused and participation in practice or a game will not be affected.

2026 Hannaford Helps Schools program has begun and will run through May 30. You can support CMS by shopping for specially marked items. For every 4 participating products purchased, you earn 3 School Dollars. At checkout, you receive a printout that you can redeem online. Look for the red apple icon to find products that qualify. With Hannaford To Go, school dollars are not provided at pickup. Instead, about a week into May and again a week into June, Hannaford will email you a unique code reflecting the total School Dollars you earned in the previous month. To redeem School Dollars, enter the code and store number, then select Central Middle School. Each School Dollar printout also includes a QR code linking directly to the website, making it quick and easy to redeem school dollars. In 2025 $330 was raised for student activities at CMS!
