Hirundo Summer Adventure Credit Recovery Introduction

The link above will take you to a description of the plan for our new credit recovery program at Hirundo Wildlife Refuge on Hwy 43 out of Hudson going toward Old Town.  Mr Dan Furlong, Ms. Liberty Oko, Ms. Terri-Lynn Fowler, Ms. Jessica Williams, and myself have been hard at work this spring designing this opportunity for you (your students) to earn credit recovery in core course areas through a unique and fun learning opportunity at Hirundo Wildlife Refuge.  I have served on the board at Hirundo for many years and it has been a dream of mine to engage high school students in a program of exploration and discovery about our area and the tremendous beauty and variety of our natural resources.  The love many of our students have for the outdoors, and my arrival here as principal have given the opportunity to bring that to fruition.  This program is our initial offering for our students and you have either committed to being a part of this program or have indicated a strong interest.  We hope that you will participate.

We will be canoeing, hiking, creating works of art and descriptive writing, and many other activities to engage students in the process of learning about the outdoors in our area of Maine.  If your student wants to participate (credit recovery only this year) please reach out to me at the high school via phone or email (rmayfield@rsu64schools.org)  Hope to see you there!
